PMF Launch - 01 June 2019
Philasande Mkhabela Foundation was formed in November 2018 and was officially launched on 01 June 2019 at Mseni Lodge at Sodwana Bay. Amongst the attendees, were representatives from CHOC, CANSA, Cancer Survivors, Cancer victims and other interested parties. On top far right is Mrs Levox relating her experience with cancer! On top are the members of PMF committee. On the top left are the people who attended the launch. On the op right, the main speaker: Sylvia from CHOC was presented a token of appreciation for having graced the event all the way from Johannesburg.
Cansa Training & Testing - 31 August 2019
Among the programs that PMF has organized was the Screening Day that was conducted by CANSA from the Pietermaritzburg office. People from different places came to Mbazwana, Dinago Lodge, to be tested in order to know their status and how safe they are from the scourge of CANCER! This program is organized every year to give all the people an opportunity to know their status for them to get assistance at early stage. It encourages people to test regularly for an early detection.
CHOC Training - 31 May 2019
In the picture above PMF members were being trained by Sylvia Craucamp from CHOC at Mbazwana Library. PMF members have undergone several trainings to equip them with necessary skills to make a meaningful impact to the community. They were equipped with necessary skills to be able to educate members of the community on how to take care of themselves and detect CANCER early signs.
Women's Day 2019
Ladies were celebrating a Women’s Day by hosting a Women’s dialogue at Mbazwana. This was a well co-ordinated event where women had a guest speaker and a pastor who shared with a lot of lessons which empowered them for the future. Women came from all walks of life around UMkhanyakude. This an annual event that is scheduled to take place in August of every year. We hope this event will also have a meaningful impact on many women who are the main pillars of many homes.

First Cancer Awareness Fun Walk - 12 October 2019
This was a CANCER AWARENESS 8.3KM FUN WALK that was held at Mseleni. Another successful event that was supported by many business people, the department of sport and recreation as well as members of the community. As evident in the pictures over 300 people, young and old, participated in the event, which culminated to an awareness, talk at the end of the fun walk. This annual event is held every October as part of commemorating the life of Philasande Mkhabela and many other cancer victims and the WORLD BREAST CANCER MONTH.
Kids Fun Day - 7 March 2019
A Fun Filled Day that was held at Mbazwana Stadium to celebrate INTERNATIONAL CHILDHOOD CANCER DAY. Kids and their parents were given lessons about childhood CANCER before they enjoyed themselves with a variety of games that were organized by PMF. A well-attended event by kids which will be celebrated every year in February/March as part of spreading awareness about the disease.
